Республика Бурятия является частью Сибирского федерального округа. Располагается она расположена на территории Сибири. Общая площадь республики составляет 351, 3 тыс. Бурятия граничит с Монголией, а также с Тывой, Забайкальским краем, Иркутской областью. Датой основания республики считается май 1923 г.

Nature of Buryatia

For the relief of the territory of Buryatia, an elevation above sea level is characteristic. Most of the surface is occupied by mountains, which are replaced by deep gorges. The highest point is Mount Munku-Sardyk, which refers to the Upper Sayan Mountains.

Approximately 60% of the shoreline of Lake Baikal fall on the territory of Buryatia. A distinctive feature of the Republic of Buryatia is a large number of rivers and lakes. The rivers are mostly small and belong to the basins of Lake Baikal, the rivers Angara and Lena.

Природа Бурятии богата на различные виды природных ресурсов. Здешние леса, которыми покрыта большая часть территории, дают огромное количество древесины. В многочисленных шахтах происходит добыча угля, вольфрама, молибдена, золота.

Climate

Бурятия входит в зону резко континентального климата. Именно поэтому здесь ярко выраженные тёплые и холодные времена года. Бурятская зима очень морозная, но с низкой влажностью. Лето, хоть и недолгое, но жаркое и с частыми дождями. В здешних краях наиболее приятным временем года является осень. Она здесь часто бывает довольно тёплой и продолжительной.

Население, административное устройство

In Buryatia there are about 980 thousand people. The ethnic composition of the population is dominated by Russians and Buryats. The remaining ethnic groups (Tatars, Ukrainians, Belarusians) are represented in a very small percentage ratio.

The structure of Buryatia includes 6 major cities. One of them, Ulan-Ude, is the capital of the republic. Also, the administrative division of the territory includes 26 separate districts.
