Dmitrov
The city, which is relatively not far from Moscow. But it is somewhat older than the capital itself and the history of the city is quite eventful. Take at least the relatively recent events, according to the standards of Dmitrov's existence, the construction of the Moscow-Volga canal. Here only it was built not by simple workers, prisoners or repressed people. Construction began in the middle of the 30-ies, just in the heyday of Stalin's repressions. On the one hand, the construction has helped the city to survive economically, and the population has increased. But on the other hand ... the whole horror is that until now on the banks of the canal people are buried. After all, if a prisoner was dying at a construction site, then, as a rule, he was buried there on the banks. It later became dead to be taken away from water, because they were afraid that contamination of the waters of the canal would occur. So, passing through this channel, often steamboats with a whistle give a tribute to the memory of the repressed. Of course, in the city there was management of this construction, and the famous guests often visited it. There was practically all the Soviet government, there came also cultural figures, most often Maxim Gorky. There was also Stalin, however, passing - he inspected the channel when he was already ready. But Dmitrov is not famous for this. Oh, not this! There is something to see and above all it's monuments of deep antiquity. We must not forget that the city already existed when Ivan the Terrible sat on the Russian throne. True, and then DmitriLag tried - the channel was just passing through the old part of the city and therefore many ancient temples were blown up. We must not forget that at about the same time there was a heavy struggle with the church, with faith in God. Now in the historical part of the city, the Assumption Cathedral and the Dmitrovsky Kremlin are in complete safety, in which buildings dating from the 5 century were found. In addition, throughout the city there are temples that are no less interesting. But the most interesting is that in some incomprehensible way in the central part of the city and in the suburbs, the old style of development, namely, one-storey or two-story private buildings, has been preserved. And some of them are old enough. So, despite modern buildings and many of them, old buildings do not disappear from the face of the city, but on the contrary decorate it in every way ... Despite the provincial status, it is easy to find various entertainments in the city: be it The quest is locked up As in Novosibirsk, billiards or a cozy cafe. Dmitrov is always glad to guests and therefore it would be good to come here to rest from the mega-city fuss. They say it helps ...
